So lets say you and a couple of friends decided to drove over the pass and go steelhead fishing. As you are putting on your waders, one of the so called friends brings out the bananas for a snack before starting. What is the proper thing to do at that point?

Ask if you can have one if you are hungry. If not, nothing.

Oh goody....here we go again!! In some circles it would be considered mere blasphemy....in others it would be the "death penalty!!" Take yer pick.

You're fine so long as you're not going to be in a boat.

Get back in the truck and go to the bar and start drinking beer. Fishing is over.

That's such a myth. All fish love bananas. In fact, Mike's is coming out with a Banana Scent Smelly Jelly, since it's so hard to keep the natural bait on a hook without using one of those little sacks.

LOL. I love these threads. And the old wives tale (and it's just that) is for all fishing, and usually from a boat (not just a steelhead thing). I've caught plenty of fish after eating a banana, and my friend Chris eats about nothing else but them and he's one of those lucky 10%ers we all hear about. Man can NOT miss when it comes to fishing (or hunting either, he makes me sick LOL).

So, if someone brings out a banana, purely say "Share or get the fuck out". LOL.

I always thought it was a myth also. Of course, I do not take bananas fishing. But, I went to a proven hole, where I have always been able to get newbies into fish this year, and nothing, unless you count whitefish, which I do when floating the Yakima but not steelhead fishing.

It was a damn big whitey too! 19" at least!

Blame Chris, he ate it, Manda didn't touch it. Oh, and remember we counter-acted it's affects by bring old crow and drinking it ALL at that hole.

 I can't believe you started a thread about this....

I always take banana's along with me on a fishing trip. I eat them for the cramps I get in my old hands. Potassium helps and besides banana's taste good. Yum.

Most reasons you all don't catch anything is that you are all lousy fishermen. :p:p:p:p:p:p

But this thread is better than the one on nymphing. You can eat banana's but you can't eat nymph flies.
