Saw last evening that Swakane Valley is burning, what an absolute bummer. Hope the few ranchers and orchard owners don't loose anything as well as I hope the chukar/ quail population doesn't suffer either.

The fire perimeter is 20,000 acres with about 5,000 acres of unburned within the perimeter. The lower elevations of the wildlife lands are toast. The release site is totally burned over. As you get higher in elevation there are more unburned areas.

I also posted some pictures about the fire on my blog: http://usbackroads.blogspot.com/2010/07/swakane-fire-final-update.html
