    A few observations:

    1. That moldy steelhead right in front of him didn't even flinch when the fly line landed right above him.
    2. That fish is WAY deeper in that tail out than I would have thought.
    3. Tony was able to put on the camera, cast, hook, fight, land, and release that fish in less than 3 minutes. THAT'S the way to do it!

I'll be watching this over and over again.

Hells yeah, that is some nice work. On a a single hander too. Is that a brownie?

I'm making a big push for skaters this summer, maybe I'll have to pull out the old single hander too.

    Thanks for the stoke!

Now that's a quality steelhead video. All fishing and no macho grandstanding. Thanks for sharing!

Agreed, that fish was deeeeeeeeep in the tailout.

Hmm, I guess that noob hadn't heard about the technique where you strip out line after the fish is on.

If it wasn't for the last 15 seconds that video would be flawless.

    Sweet video.

That is literally exactly how I broke my rod tip last year. I didn't strip line off before tailing. This guy is lucky.

My guess is the fish was much further up the tailout and then followed the fly down stream before taking it. I've watched a few times now from bridges steelhead follow a fly down stream as far as 30', maybe more before committing to the take.

Very cool video and quite the contrast to that other one.

Very cool! Used to live in G.Pass. Fished the N. Umpqua once - saw steelhead in about 20 ft of water (float line of course). Never thought it would come up, but she surprised me!

Great video! Nicely done - especially the release!
