I am building a TFO 7/8wt spey rod for my father. Got a few questions hopefully someone can help me with. So far I have the blank, reel seat, and cork grip in the shoppijg cart.

1) Will the reel seat come with the winding check? Here is the reel seat I am purchasing. http://shofftac.ipower.com/store/Forecast_spey_seats.html

2) Is there any other options for a spey cork handle I can buy anywhere othere then these?

3) What size guides do I need or do you recommend? Brand? Style? Im having a hard time figuring this out.

Ok I just realized there was some confusion on my part with question number one. I thought the winding check was the trim piece that sits on the bottom part of the threads on the reel seat that but up to the cork grip. What is that piece called and will that come with the seat?

I live in South King County, but I made the drive up to Lake Stevens to Greg's Custom Rods shop. He has everything you need to build a rod and is very helpful with advice and other information. The best thing about going to a shop is that you get to hand pick your hardware, instead of some guy in an online warehouse picking it for you. It's a poke, but the peace of mind is worth it.
