    just remember, throw 'em back

with silvers just a few weeks away (depending on your location) I am beginning to rummage through the gear in anticipation of another strong run (hopefully). I have never caught a silver on my fly rod but am looking forward to getting some this year. My father and I fish out of 21' Sea Ray and because of my dad we strictly troll gear out in the sound (you know, steelhead rod, downriggers, flasher, squid). Well I'm breaking the rules this year and I am gonna do some daylight trolling with my 5 weight to try and raise a fish or two.

---If anybody has any patterns that they highly recommend and that they tie I would really appreciate it. Any herring imitations, or attractor patterns that are DURABLE and can withstand the rigors of saltwater trolling are welcome. Thank you

I think that the most durable of the saltwater patterns is probably Surf Candy, and epoxy headed fly. Also popular are clouser minnows in blue, green and olive.

Another resource for fly patterns is, and there are several naturalistic patterns that are interesting.
