This would make some SOLID sw flies

    Rather, some FLEXIBLE sw flies... ;) While I was digging around the web for one thing (looking for different ways to tie weed guards for Bass flies) I found some cool video with what to me is a really cool fly tying technique (never mind what's being sold).

    Anyhow, seems to me like this would resolve some of my issues with the materials tangling up and getting real messy. Also, a great and simple way to give shape to a fly and still keep the fly "soft".

    Check it - the next time I tie some sw flies I may give this style of tying a try.

    I tie these and like them a lot. We have a lot of elongated baitfish on the west coast - sandlance, smelt, grunion, anchovy, mackerel, sardine- and you can successfully mimic them all with this pattern.

    Hold up well to teeth too
