Looking for a little more durability, I swapped Swiss Straw for the original's pheasant tail wingcase. Also found standard Krystal Flash a bit bulky so I used the midge size instead.

    hook - Dai Riki 135 #12
    thread - Danville 6/0 brown
    tail - pheasant tail
    rib(s) - x-small wire copper/Flashabou pearl
    abdomen - pheasant tail
    thorax - peacock herl
wingcase - Swiss Straw brown/Midge Flash pearl
    legs - Midge Flash pearl
    bead - 3.2mm gold

mash barb, slide bead on hook, take a few wraps of .15 non-tox and shove inside back end of bead to stabilize

start thread, tie in rib and wrap halfway down the bend

measure (gap width) some pt fibers; tie in

    tie in Flashabou

wrap pt just forward of hook point; tie off/trrim

    rib with Flashabou; tie off/trim

counterwrap with wire; helicopter end, cover with thread

    tie in flash

tie is Swiss Straw (edges folded in)

tie in peacock, twist around thread, wrap to bead, tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, trim thread

re-start thread in front of bead, pull SS forward; tie off/trim

pull flash forward, then push fingers back against the bead to create a hump; tie down

separate a few strands on either side of the bead; pull back/tie down

trim away remaining strands of flash, build thread head, half hitch x 2, SHHAN, trim legs even with back of thorax

Looks like it would be a killer at the end of the drift on the lift.

Nice tie, Scott. I really do like flashabou as a nymph rib, especially for chironomids. I think that it creates the appearance that the nymph shuck is filling with air prior to emergence.
