Looking to buy an 8-Weight Rod and/or Reel for Steelheading adventures...quality is important. Was planning on buying new set up but figured i'd check out the boards to see if anyone is looking to get rid of some gear. - Broderick
Yes, Itchy does in fact have a 9'6" 8 wt VPS for sale at the ridiculous price of $200, and he would be glad to meet Broderick in person to deliver the rod. It's like new- just needs a reel and line and someone to use it.
How about a Sage XP 896-2. Like new, with sock & tube (has name scribed on butt section). I'll start a debate on the board - the "best of class" single hand steelhead rod on the market today! Anyway, a damn good casting & fishing rod. $325 plus $12 shipping & insurance (I'm landlocked in Utah). Good luck finding both rod and fish.
Looks like you're gonna' have a lot easier time finding a good steelhead rod than the steelhead you hope to hook. Just to add to the selection, I have a Sage RPL 10' 8 wt that is somewhere between unused and barely used, I forget.
That is one sweet rod. It is still my favorite go-to rod for single hand fishing. I even like it over my Sage 8100 SP as it is zippier and lighter. That one would be my choice!
Salmo_g, I have to ask what you would rather use instead of this rod for those North Sound S-rivers? Thanks,
I have a like new 9 1/2 ft. Sage SLT 4pc. 8wt. with blank card ,tube and sock matched with a Ross Canyon BG4 and loaded up with a new RIO Versatip system, tips and wallet. I am debating on selling it....PM me if interested.
I have a "used once" backup rod Sage RPLXi 9 wt. 3 piece. Gives you even more versatility because it can be used for salt water, as well....great chum, ocean coho, and steelie rod $275
Reading this thread is like walking into a fly shop. So, what is the verdict? What did you get? One thing is for sure, no rod, no steelhead. Have rod, still possibly no steelhead but at least a shot at one. Best of luck.
