The Washington State Fly Fishing Fair will be held at the Kittitas Valley Event Center in Ellensburg, Washington on Friday, April 29th and on Saturday April 30, 2011. This will be the fifth year for the fair, which will feature fly fishing in Washington with events and displays showing all aspects of the sport.
The event is organized by the Washington State Council of the Federation of Fly Fishers, an umbrella organization to support fly fishing clubs of Washington with the aim of keeping club members informed on local and national issues that impact fishing. With the mission of teaching fly fishing skills and conserving our resources, most of us feel that the beauty of being out where fish live is something to celebrate and we’d like to share it with the fishing and non-fishing public. Several local shops and equipment manufacturers will have displays, Classes are being offered in fly casting, fly tying, and seminars are being offered showing how to prepare for a trip for that perfect fishing outing from the Yucatan to Alaskan waters with many local spots covered as well. We hold the event in Ellensburg, a short drive from most locations in the state and a friendly community.
Nearly one hundred fly tiers will demonstrate how to tie flies the work in the waters they fish and will discuss with you how to best use them. All our tiers bring fishing knowledge to share and some are nationally and internationally renown. Whether the tier is demonstrating a rustic bit of yarn and feather for his favorite water or a classic salmon fly that might be considered a work of art it is just amazing what these folks do.
Fly casting classes will be offered from beginning classes to casting in distance and windy situations. All instructors are FFF Certified instructors and there will be an ongoing clinic if you just want a quick refresher to get ready for the season. A friendly casting competition will be held for those interested.
Saturday night will bring the festivities to a close with a banquet and auction. In the past, many people have left the auction smiling with satisfaction at the great value they purchased. The funds raised fund the Council’s education, operations, and conservation activities.

This is a GREAT event, tons of fun, very informative, and a great set of folks. You can learn, ask questions, see and talk with a ton of tyers, fly casting instructors & shops. Its easy to get to, easy to park... and reasonable entry fees that allow you to still have a few $$ in your pocket!

Ron and I always have fun at this event, and look forward to seeing everyone there!!
