The fishing is what you get on Dry Falls. Report from the local biologist is that it has a large older fish population that seems to be eating the fingerling plants (or at least something is). Fish like that tend to get fussy about what and when they eat. Not going to be a great quantity fishery, just quality. Take that for what it is worth. Zen is right about April being the month to fish chironomids, but I never did find the fish stripping buggers or streamers even later last year. The lake has huge chironomid hatches of medium to large bugs and the fish just key in on them.

Hey PassMan, of course it was slow you fish like once a year. Did you even catch a fish last year?
I would rather the later date as well. I do think we need to get out there before the opener though.

Two years ago the night fishing was spectacular, it was a full moon and pretty warm, you could almost see without the head lamp. We caught lots of big fish of streamers and bass bugs. That is what we should plan for, I dont have lunar maps but I am sure someone does.. And within those two monthes it is likely that one weekend will be warm?

Just Curious, how do you get into Dry Falls at night. I thought the park gate closed at dusk?

I tried it several years back and the fishing was insane at night. Anything black worked! The downside was that the park ranger used his megaphone to tell me I had 5 minutes to get off of the lake or he would have my truck towed. Do you know how much it sucked to kick across that lake in five minutes in the dark?

I'd love to show up for the party. Point at a date on the calendar cause I need to get the o'l vacation request in. I'm game for either month. Chronie fishing has always done me right on Dry Falls. I've had 20 fish days on the lake. I'll use what works well. Just say no to bait or dynamite :).

Someone should just take charge and pick a date. So far it looks like the later the better. I say we should just go the first week of May.
