I have a pair of Simms G4 Pro stocking foot waders and love them. Something I've always wanted to know is what is the little rubber piece next to the zipper on the check pocket. At the left end of the zipper is a small rubber attachment and I can't for the life of me figure out what it's supposed to do.
I understand that those zippers can sometimes be difficult to pull to open, so I think they put that rubber nipple on there so that you can bend your head down and bite on it with your teeth, while pulling the zipper pull with your free hand and not need to let go of your rod.
I see two zippers that end in that general area. I used to do some consulting work with a military bags and accessory company, and learned a little about it. My guess is the actual purpose is to strengthen the area around the ends of the two zippers that would be very susceptible to fatigue causing the material to bind up in the zipper and/or to tear over time. They probably just put a clip on it to make it multi purpose. I wonder if earlier versions did not have that, and they received complaints over time about trouble in that area.
Most quality fly vests (when they were still in vouge) had a leather tab next to or just above the left pocket zipper/flap so you could clamp hemostats to them with your right hand.
Just where the hell did you find a buff leash? I've been look'n for one for over a year now.
