I'd love to go catch me a whitefish about now.
Rocky mountain bonefish! respect the whiteys
I love whitefish!
Whitefish back home salvaged many a boring winter day . . . and they're excellent out of the smoker!
Agree Jim, Whitefish have saved many a slow day.
I only caught whitefish today on the Bitterroot near Hamilton. They made my day
Haven't seen a whitefish since I left Washington. I miss those guys!
When nothing else was working and the day was coming to an end, a stone fly nymph under an indi would always bend the rod at least once so I didn't go home bageled. Love those guys.
In the summer, you can get them up top on a certain river here and it's so cool to see them ghost up to just under your fly, slowly turn upside down and then sip before dropping down and turning right side up. Really soft and subtle and sneaky yet sort of graceful.

I met very few whitefish that didn't end up in the smoker.
Strangely, I don't see those in my area, just lake whitefish.
One year after 7 days on Kelly Creek the ladies threatened us with Hamburger Helper if we didn't bring back some fish. A float from Kelly Forks about 4 miles downstream produced some whiteys in the 21-23'' range-enough for everybody.
Well,I catch many white fish But damm few 20 inch browns in streams. I'd be willing to trade you the info on where the whities are at for the location of a few large brownie locations. Deal or no deal?
Add some pink lipstick & that fish would be ready for the prom!!!!
What are you using? We always catch them on the Met during steelhead. Nice shot!
