I test drove the BIIX you listed from Winston. It casts the same as a CND Skagit Specialist. I own a BIIX 12' 6" #6/7 line and truly believe that it out performed the 14' 8/9 IMO. Don't get me wrong it was a nice rod if you are looking for a 14' stick, it is very nice. You can ask Winston to send you a loaner rod for a couple weeks to see if its for you.
Don't know anything about the Winston, but own the LeCie. Have to say (IMHO) the LeCie 13'7 9/10 is faster than shorter and lighter LeCies. This rod would be called a broomstick by some casters.
Would like to hear what the Winston is like.
The 3 piece 9/10 LeCie is an unforgiving bitch, and will be heretofore referred to as MADEMOISELLE. She will tolerate nothing less. Visualize a black leather bustier and thigh high boots...
And you better have a big bottom hand and a hard tight stroke, otherwise she'll have nothing to do with you. Wimpy american style casters...she will spank you hard and send you home, red-cheeked. She's the bitchy oldest sister of the Le Cies, who are mostly accommodating farmgirls.
535 grains, and the length better be right. or else.
But...you treat her right, it's all Marlene Dietrich plus.
You do have a way with words. :clown:
I'm just an old spey guy who likes the long rods that take the long top hand. But, this rod as well as my LPXe, have taught me a thing or two about the mechanics of casting. Learning to use that bottom hand improved my long rod/long line casting. Those Scandinavian women will take you for a wild ride.
