Just bought a mint of these this summer for 325$ on craigslist. I can tell you its everything its cracked up to be. Staff of Moses indeed man. Its not some super limp stick that is slow though. Its pretty versatile, progressive and laser accurate. I have a RIO Gold on it now, though I want to put a lighter line on it. Hope you find one!
Good luck on your search, I'm sure one will show up, just might take awhile ? As much as I love fiberglass it's the one Winston that I couldn't see letting go, had mine since they came out. Incredibly versatile all around 4wt, not to soft, not to stiff, perfect !!! Truly is the "Staff of Moses". It likes most any WF line but I've used a DT for delicate work.
I'm still a WT guy but I threw the 8' 4wt Biit at a show when they came out. Very nice indeed. I know the 8'6" gets more press. May come down to intended use. Your friends will be impressed though, every time you show them "The Staff of Moses".
Everyone should be a WT guy if you trout fish ☺. I still have a few WT is need to get, primarily the 5wt and perhaps the TMF though I rarely fish for fish small enough to warrant the TMF and do have a trophy cup pre-im6 8ft 3wt that is a real joy. Too many rods to buy! Need a new Spey rod and want a b3x 6wt for bigger rivers.
Thanks for the offer. I already have a 8.6 4wt BiiX and a WT and like them both. I actually really like the BiiX With that said I've found that the BiiT is the rod for me.
Thanks Seattlesetters, it was your review (back on the old Winston forum) is what inspired me to purchase one and have never regretted it, it is a very special rod.
