Also, what are they doing or how do you recondition a steelhead? Since they are supposedly wild fish, shouldn't they just let nature run its course without intervention?
I believe they put them in rearing ponds to revive them completely before letting them head off down the river, As the survival rate for our east side fish making it back to the salt is pretty poor. Could be completely off on that tho
At the 2011 Yakima Basin Aquatic Science and Management Conference, we had this pretty good summary of the kelt reconditioning program with some good speaker's notes preserved from the powerpoint file.
