This morning (around 5:30) I awakened to the usual sound of cows. As I lay there I heard another sound, the scratching of claws on metal. It kept going for a while, I got out of bed to relieve the pressure in my bladder, look out the bathroom window and.........three feet from my face is a couple of magpies on the metal roof. Before they take off I see them picking up wasps from a nest they have knocked down from under the eaves. These birds have figured out they won't get stung after a forty degree night if they get a breakfast of yellow jackets. Remarkable!
