Other than dragging the fish up on the beach and then releasing it, I didn't see anything so bad or wrong. Yeah the guys a dweeb, but there are a lot of dweebs in the world.

What ever happened to clipping a gill and throwing a fish on a stringer for 5 min? Do people like coagulated blood in their fillets in the Kodiak? If you're gonna bonk em, at least do it right.

 I wonder how may of his casting students have accidentally hooked up with passing cars or trucks. Better use a heavy tippett.

The video reminded me of this KetcumRelease tool for sale in England. Has a priest on the other end. A real "one tool does all" "must have".

This idiot pulls fish up on the beach like that and than toss them back, while people here can't lift a wild steelhead out of the water for a three second pic.

Yes I would agree, stupid video but it did look like they were all having fun and not breaking any laws. You all sound like a bunch of purist snobs with very short learning curves. My kind of people. :beer2:

Agree Marty, fun they were having and just taking their 'cues' from the "Guide." But the lack of respect for the 'adversary' (the fish) ....... dear God.

That's nothing. You should have seen the bears working the run above them - ripping out their stomachs for the eggs and letting the half alive fish swin downstream to slowly die. No respect I tell ya.

Actually the road side noise during the casting instruction was a bit much. And dragging the slimer up on the beach and essentially kicking it back in was a bit much (try a net, or tailing it in the shallows next time). But I'm sure it lived (till it got to the bears). The rock was kinda overkill (no pun intended) - a quick slice through the juggler would ensure the quality of the meat was kept top notch. No need to pre-tenderize the meat with the boulder...

Fred don’t get me wrong I am a purist snob and thought the treatment of the fish was brutal. We all fish for different reasons, no one reason is better than the other. From the look of thing the guy in the video is just getting started. Before long he will be a purist snob just like the rest of us. It’s that short learning curve that most experience when they pick up a fly rod.
