Help! I'm trapped in a landlocked state.
The folks at Mepps would be proud.

    spent spinner
When the guy at the flyshop said, "They're taking spinners!" that is not what he had in mind.

I admire your willingness to get down and dirty to get those brownies. It's just too bad you probably can't count these for the FFFT contest since spinner baits aren't flies Smile (and this from a guy who would have no problem with glo-bugs fished under an indicator...)

    But I'm not the judge...

Nice fish. My hats off to you just for being able to cast that fly. That looks like a beast. I thought my steelhead flies were big and bad. Take a pic of it dry!

sure as hell alot more fly like than a bead is, not that there is anything wrong with beads either.

I can't believe you guys picked up on the trebble. Found out Owner makes them now. Don't really work any better, so i think i am going to do away with them, but I had to try

I love the creativity and would fish that sucka (minus the trebble probably) - I'd just be surprised if the average fly fisher would consider it a 'fly'. Heck, I used to fish flatfish lures, thin blade spoons, plain colorado spinners, bead head nymphs (j\k) all on my fly rod. Shoot, I've even rolled actual night crawlers using a fly rod. I'm no elitist, just calling a spade a spade...

Jergerns, definately more elaborate than a plastic bead. But at least a bead can be considered 'matching the hatch'. Just sayin...

chad- that fly matches the hatch of 12" brown trout swimming around the bighole.
