    Yes, I know - not a very C&R friendly pic. This fish was actually killed and given to a friend who likes pinks - even this dark!!
    Note the hook placement. When fishing for pinks and letting the fly raise and fall, they'll almost always grab it as they see it falling and 95% of the time, the hook will be in the upper or lower jaw right at the front of their mouth.

    I think it looks like a steelhead...
    Is "a pink" an american definication for steelhead?

    This is a pink salmon - othewise known as a 'humpy'. Browse through the 'salmon' section of the gallery. It won't take long to see the difference between a steelhead and a humpypink salmon. During odd numbered years they return in amazing numbers and are about the easiest salmon fishing available in this area (10-30 fish days are often reported. My best days are closer to the 10 side, but I don't target them that often).
