Yea, on a popper. I found them pretty hard to get to strike. Most of them just follow the fly until the boat, but woudn´t eat it. However, this one took it about 10ft from the boat and they are definitely the fastest fish on the flats bar none! I saw fish 3x this big too. Damn good eating. My guide´s wife cooked it up for dinner.

    Barret,
Sweet fish dude, I want another one so badly. I have had sucess on bigger cuda by switching to smaller sub-surface flies fished slow in front of their face as one would do while sight fishing for pike. You can locate them with a popper and then provoke the strike on a small marabou or bunny fly. To bad the bugs only last 1 or 2 fish.

Thanks for the tip. My guide looked at me funny when i tied on a small deciever and he insisted that i use the popper or some other giant streamer. I think they are just very temperamental but next time i´ll have to try it more despite his advice

Barrett, how did you get black finger prints all over this fish? Was your fake tan coming off? White+White=Brown? Never made sense to me...
