    Did you experience any of that trouble landing large fish that spey rods are reputed to have?

    well, that reputation was partly developed when anglers do not fight big fish "properly". it is easy to overload the rod since the fish has much more leverage, so based on that, you have to really keep the rod angle low to the water and load that big ass butt section that most spey rods have, and letting the drag on your reel do the job it was designed to do. now granted this fish still took me 30 minutes and a nice 150 yard walk downstream, it could have taken me much longer and possibly a broken rod if it was fought with the top third of the rod instead of the bottom third.

    Nice King. You must have caught the river on a good day. Most of the time it is like a Mocha until it gets really cold.
