    Spring Buck in AK

This was the last picture I took on my camera before I fell in the river. I took the camera apart and put it in the oven at 200 (with the door open). It seems to be working again, but it is doing some weird things. I found this 30" bow in a shallow tail out, very similar to steelhead fishing, except I caught a fish...

Doesn't care how you fish Moderator
That is a really nice Bow!
You could pass that off as a nice steelhead.

How do they fight compared to a steelhead?

The fly was my version of a cop-car. This is a local pattern, not the Dooner Dickson super secret fly. It is an articulated black, white, black, bunny fly, with a short red wing of artic fox. Barret, the fish fight really well. I would say very much like a steelhead. Definitely harder than most of the winter run fish I have hooked. I hooked a hen the other night that was close to 30" and I would estimate her girth around 19" (fat). She went straight into my backing and I had to chase her down to the next pool. She had 3-4 jumps and one other trip into my backing (after I reeled in 1/2 of my fly line) before I landed her. Definitely 7-8wt fish.
