The hook is a cheap Mustad clipped just before the bend. The stinger hook is a Gamakatsu.
The first step is to wrap lead all the way down the front hook shank, tie the barbell eyes on and then thread braided dacron through the eye of the front hook and tie a knot for the appropriate length of tail. Secure it to the shank all the way to the end. From there, create a dubbing loop of wire and mix dark olive mohair, black mohair and light olive krystal dub. Wrap the loop to just behind the barbell eyes. Secure a red neck hackle behind the barbell eyes and make 4 or 5 wraps. Make another dubbing loop of the same blended dubbing and wrap figure- 8 around the eyes and towards the head. Leave room to secure the rabbit strip and to finish the head.
Flip the hook over and secure the eye into the vise. at the end of the shaft, tie off the rabbit strip tight. Make a loop of thread, pull the strip tight and secure.
Using a bobbin threader, thread the stinger hook eye with the dacron with the point up & pull the loop of dacron over. Glue the rabbit strip to the dacron and be sure to clear hair and fur out of the way. Once it dries, comb everything out using a stiff toothed comb. I use velcro glued to a popsicle stick as the comb. The tail will be somewhat stiff but that is fine. Little action is better than too much action in my opinion.
