    Recipe for the
    Bead-head Lightning Bug (dim)

    Hook: #12 - 18 standard nymph.
    Head: 2mm silver bead head.
    Thread: 6/0 black.
    Tail: Pheasant tail.
    Rib: Copper wire.
    Abdomen: Holographic Mylar tinsel.
    Wingcase: Holographic Mylar tinsel.
    Thorax: Peacock herl.
Legs: Brown hen hackle; 2 turns.

I choose a true silver bead and the heavier
hackle to “dim” the brightness of the fly a bit.
You can always trim the hackle to brighten it
up if you like. This fly is wrapped about 12
times with medium lead wire, but that is
    optional.
