yeah, even when theyre babies like this one, the tease and switch is a rush and can be just plain mayhem the first few times! theres also just something about a mohawk...
I've caught smaller ones that . . . that's not a baby!
You guys teased them? I fished La Paz in June, and they would show up everyone once in a while during chumming. I also caught one about that size once when a school of them were zooming by the front of the boat . . . I let it by about three feet and plunked a clouser right on its head, and it wolfed down the clouser without even stopping. Very cool. I was using a stout 10 weight; with I had been using an 8 weight for that fish. But, you need to use that bigger stick because you never know what will show up!
I don't know if you tried them, but our group had great luck using Crease flies on the roosters . . .
