bhudda, believe it or not, the picture I uploaded entitled, Beautiful Kelt, took my fly on the surface, I was stripping it back, and was getting ready to cast again, the fly was on top of the water, and this red torpedo surfaces and swirls on the fly, heading back downstream, after I released that fish, my hands were shaking, I took the water temperature, it was 36 degrees. Conventional wisdom says, "Steelhead won't rise in water that cold", so much for conventional wisdom. I fished for seven straight days, and I had one more fish try to take the fly while it was on top of the water. All I could think about though was, " I took a Steelie on the surface", even though it wasn't planned that way, I still can't get the vision of that double red banded fish rising to the surface, out of my head.
pwoens...I feel your pain bro, but as I like to say " Don't hate....congratulate!
Living life is having fun!
I hear you, D ray. Surface takes never cease to leave me a bit tweaked. But since I'm talking trout, I can only imagine how jangled your nerves were after finishing with that steelie. So do you think you're gonna start tossing Greased Liners from now on?
