Hook: TMC 2487 ~size 20
Tread: 8/0 olive or dun
Tail: 6-8 antron fibers, trimmed to shank length
Body: Goose biot, tied in by tip and wound forward
Thorax: Tan/olive superfine dubbing
Wing: Deer or elk, tips forward, butts trimmed
Hackle: Whiting grizzly midge
The key is to success in tying this pattern is to tip the wing back after tying off the hackle and winding a small ball of thread underneath to prop the wing up at a jaunty angle. This photo appears to show some thread between the hackle and the protruding wing where there shouldn't be any at all.
