    That's funny, I used to have some of those in my fish tank. They are pretty cool fish. One almost got that big before it died. It ate or killed the other fish in the tank and ate my freshwater eel!

    They're aquarium releases that have since formed a wild population in the canal systems. There were several species of Oscar, Tilapia, Jaguar Guapote, Mayan cichlids, and who knows what else present in the system. Florida F&W introduced the peacocks in the eighties to try to get them under control.
