This battle was friggin' epic....I hooked this fish and he went apeshit, ran downriver and sulked under the 405 abutment, deep into my backing. I couldn't follow due to a tree in the way.....and my line was caught in the branches. My wife helped by grabbing my 5 wt BllX while the 'bow thrashed waaay downstream. She hung on for dear life while she was "coached" by some scuzzy-toothed white trash numbskull with a giant blue parrot on his shoulder. I scrambled downstream, grabbed a stick, leaned out, hooked the line and somehow managed to handline this beauty in for a couple quick shots before the release. I wish I had it all on video! You can see my backing...I still didn't have time to reel everything in since I had to get this bad boy back in the river.
By now it's probably been consumed by a Schlitz drinkin', wife beatin', tank top and mullet wearin', smelly, trailer park livin', unemployed, crack usin', no teeth Cedar River poacher. (no, I don't mean Mingo!). :-)
Sorry to be such a downer; it's just a shame to see fish like this disappear from this fishery.
