    What is this creepy plant?



    Saw just two on the banks of the John Day. Spikey seed pods about the size of a chicken egg. I didn't want to get too close. I've seen the movie "Alien". I didn't want to get the face suck and the implant.

    They're like a chestnut husk, but they peel open to reveal the pod is sectioned into three (maybe four) rows of black seeds, like a lily seed pod. Plant stems strong but not woody.
