Jeremy, that is a nice looking soft hackle. I have a few in a similar color scheme but the body of mine are much different. If you don't mind sharing the pattern ingredients I would appreciate a chance to replicate that fly.

Pretty easy tie. It has a few wraps of gold tinsel on the shank just above the bend. When you palmer the body make sure you have a long enough feather that you can do three or four wraps on the collar, before you put the pheasant on. That way the fly pushes a lot of water, and the soft hackle bends over the thicker collar.

Fish this fly when the sun is directly on the water.

    Assassin instructions are here. http://www.washingtonflyfishing.com/gallery/data/18411/thumbs/IMG_04691.JPG

These are the flys I mailed out today for the summer steelhead swap. Thank my son for the name. I had explained to him that they were half of the Assassin pattern. When my daughter asked later in the evening what they were my son interjected from across the room "They are half Ass..." at which point my wife cut him off thinking he was being rude. He never finished off the word "Assassin". The name stuck.

Awesome candy! The smaller version would be a killer for trout.

    LOL

You need to make an entire "Half Ass" series.
