From Haiti to the Methow. Ruben is our church's Haitian interpreter when we go down on missions trips; he managed to spend a couple days on the water with us. After an evening of learning how to cast, he managed this some great Methow Rainbows. The picture just doesn't do this one justice... He had never fished before; in Haiti, people are more concerned with stuff like staying alive rather than crowded rivers and, "which fly rod should I buy next?" It took a trip to the hatchery and lots of explaining to help him understand why we must catch and release.
Ditto...that's a good work. I'm guessing Reuben hasn't seen too many pristine streams either. We don't know how good we have it. Contact with people from 3rd World countries brings that into sharper focus.
