    Rod tubes in the overhead compartment
    I am rapidly getting into surf flies like this. Have you had enough experience with strikes to say youve missed some with the short shank hook?


    Im thinking of a waddington with a power pro trailer hook, which I would affix a little 'mini tail' onto for wiggle at the very back.

    Most of the fish I target with this style of fly are rather large and tend to "suck" the fly in when they strike it. For fish like salmon and SRCs I've definitely found that tube flies or trailing hook flies get more hookups.
