"The International Gamefish Association announced Monday that the 54-year-old Indiana heart surgeonís 26-pound, 12-ounce catch is the new IGFA All-Tackle world record for landlocked Atlantic salmon. He set another record too catching it on 6-pound test line."

Not according to some articles. It was weighed on a boga grip and measured. I think he was guided by Matt Supinski.

Here is a quote from one of the articles.
"Aufiero and Supinski opted to release the fish. The IGFA accepts record submissions for catch and release fish as well as those caught and killed. Supinski was required, among other things, to submit photographs and his Boga Grip (portable scale) and samples of line for certification and verification"

Cool, thanks. Awesome that they let it go.

I think it's awesome that the IGFA allows released fish to be held as records. Sends a good message if people know that some of the best fishermen in the world release their catch.

WDFW wouldn't let me submit a record fish that I released.

I agree glad if that magnificent animal was released. Imagine that beast's genetic spawning. We have the ancient puure roots of Salmo Salar Sebago in Argentina also. Our records were 11-12kg also. Fantastic fighters on fly! Congrats.
