pretty savage...took like a pike, then tried to run me right into a submerged log. good thing for the 15# tippet...solid fight, and this is just a small one!
what was also interesting was that maybe since these guys can also breathe air, it didnt do the normal gasping out of water, its mouth was slammed shut! we had to actually pry its mouth open with some pliers to get the fly back.
not sure if it is required in DC waters to kill them, but it is illegal to possess a live one. we definitely killed this one, but my flight left that afternoon so i never got to taste the snakehead tacos they made! really firm white meat fillets though.
