This is an emerger pattern that I decided to tie that has been productive for me here in AZ.
Thread: Black
Tail: deer or elk hair
rib: thread or fine wire
abdomen: superfine dubbing
thorax: deer hair doubled over itself, then dubbed with hair's ear
wing case: turkey
The deer hair extends the length of the hook and then is doubled over at the thorax to help the nymph float. It's almost like a floating hair's ear the way I've tied it up.
