    That is one crazy looking fish. Ventral fins that far up??? Looks like a cross between a trout, bass and crappie. Are those native to AU? How did it fight?

    They're in the same genus as Nile Perch and somewhat related to snook as well, native to the Indo-Pacific West region. It's one of the most popular sport fish in Australia in both fresh and saltwater. They hang around snags and cover, hit hard, and don't give up easy. They also grow to over 80 pounds.
