I was "fly-fishing" with pink bucktails for coho in late August out of Tofino. But for some reason this last summer the coho were still offshore and all the guides where saying that the kings that were in were late running springers that just decided to mill around inside the island chains up around tofino. The fish in the photo was caught about an hour after we started fishing the first day. I have never had a fish on that took more line or fought as hard as it did. I was glad I had my big abel reely with me and my Sage #8. They are great fish. Everyone in the party hooked into at least one king in three days (and more coho) The guides were saying they had never seen so much kind action before. The fly was fished maybe 3 inches under the surface, being trolled for coho and boom 20-30lb. kings.
