    Lower Deschutes

Even thought there are low numbers of steelhead coming over the dams, the conditions are favorable for a good season on the Lower Deschutes. We have slightly high water levels than average, which keeps the water temps. down. The river becomes a sanctuary for fish headed further east. There have already been a number of non Deschutes hatchery fish taken.

I saw this pic on another forum. Nice fish my man. I had to work hard for some trout today in that neck of the woods and wished I would have casted that spey rod that I strung up.

I am in New Zealand this summer, so a little less pressure on the Deschutes. Man I miss that river already. I have caught native as early as July 7th, the season should start to pick up real strong soon. Catch some steelies for me!
