It was hooked not far inside the entrance to the straits, right in the first rip. It just clobbered a shock and awe, and gave up a pretty amazing display of acrobatics.
I couldn't figure out what it was until I got it close to the boat, nothing else out there really fights like this one did, and I for sure wasn't thinking steelhead at first.
Oh, and she was released very gently, we need more of those genes swimming around.
