Forgive me for asking dear sir, but is it my imagination, or does that look more like a westlope/rainbow hybrid than a steelhead? The wrist and tail look a little small for a steelhead (compared to ones I've caught in the Methow and seen photos of), and the spot pattern is more similar to a westlope (spaced further apart), although it certainly has rainbow characteristics, red cheeks and lateral line, plus no cutthroat slash, which is why it looks a little like a cuttbow to me. Then again, I could just be imagining things. Much props on the rod though, I love Winstons...

Well then its the biggest damn trout by far I've ever seen out of the methow. At 25 inches it's very small for a steelhead, but i've seen veritable steelhead from the same system that are even smaller. Whatever, it's all relative anyway. Somebody who knows more can maybe clear it up.

The maxillary is maybe too short for a cutbow.

I used to live on the Methow and have caught several cut/bows in the 20+ in range. My buddies that own North Cascades Fly Fishing have landed 4 fish over 24" in one hole in one hour before on the Methow, and I once saw someone land a 31" cut/bow with a red spoon. For my money, its just as good as the Yak for trout, but almost unknown for these big trout.
