A nod to the brown/grizzly hackle of the original, with something a bit brighter. The first shoulder's a bit short but that's what I had at the moment; back to the dye bath (maybe with golden pheasant)

thread - Danville 6/0 purple
rib - small wire silver
body - Prism dubbing purple
body hackle - grizzly dyed purple (1 1/2 Tsp Rit Violet/1/2 Tsp Rit Purple/2 cups water)
1st shoulder - dyed copper orange (3 Tsp Rit Sunshine Orange, 1/4 Tsp Rit Tan, 1/4 Tsp Rit Purple/4 cups water)
2nd shoulder - hen grizzly
Trout tripping on LSD? Sorry - the purple haze patterns I was introduced to on the Clark Fork were tied to imitate small mayflies. The light purple body - I don't really know, but the patterns were effective at times.
Oh great! I finally have my fly box filled with a decent selection of Purple Haze in sizes 14, 16, and 18. Now I gotta' buy or tie phases of the Haze? Almost makes me want to return to fishing with the simplicity of Garden Hackle.
