It has been five years since one of these was done and I thought I'd see if there is any interest.

I'm having my kitchen remodeled and will head to Vegas for a conference in January, so I figured I'd further complicate my life by offering to host a marathon swap.

I participated in the last marathon swap (2009) and found it to be an enjoyable way to pass the winter months. It is a great way to fill your box with options for the upcoming trout season and it's like a mini Christmas each month when the flies arrive. As you know, we have some amazing talent on this board.

Mail in, so as not to exclude people from distant locations, but if a face to face is ultimately desired I can probably host a final gathering in Cle elum for a day on the Yak (flows permitting).

I propose following past guidelines with a due date on the 28th of each month, starting in January, over a five month marathon.

SWAP CLOSED. Flies will be photographed for the gallery. I'll be strict about arrival dates, but late flies can reluctantly be included with the next batch (please don't do this to me).

January......Nymphs
February.....Streamers
March........Small to medium dries/emergers
April..........Terrestrials/large dries
May...........Freestyle

At the end, everyone can vote for an MVP (prize to be determined, my treat with no charge to participants).

OK, SWAP IS CLOSED

At this late point, any additions would have complicated matters and I don't want anyone tying more than a dozen flies.

We will each tie a dozen flies per round, covering the six other people in the swap. Obviously, you will not receive your own patterns back unless I'm an idiot when distributing them.

You can tie a dozen of the same fly (each person will receive two) or a half dozen each of two different flies.

I'll forward my address as requested (sean k, Travis and TE already sent). I'm going to be out of town for awhile, so if I'm not immediate about posting arrivals this month don't panic. I promise to provide up to date info for the remainder of the swap.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's patterns. Thank you for joining.

Due date is the 28th of each month for this swap. I'm holding out for Sean's to arrive from overseas (I know they've been mailed). If you can, try to race yours up ASAP so I can photograph, divide and include them in everyone's return bundle. Otherwise, I'll have to include them with next month's streamers. I would rather keep this on time and avoid mixing and matching late flies as much as possible.

Most people put their flies in an Altoid tin. Just stuff it inside an over sized envelope along with a folded, self addressed and stamped return envelope. Use the same postage it took to mail the original. You'll get back your original tin (with the new swap flies) in your provided envelope. Don't worry, it's very easy.

Here again are the recommended guidelines. http://www.washingtonflyfishing.com/forum/index.php?threads/how-a-fly-swap-works.19715/

My flies are mailed, and Riseform, I put a return envelope filled out, with stamps, inside the larger envelope I put it in. There's like 6 stamps on the return envelope. 10 points for me, because that was the first time I ever sent something from the post office. At least I know what to do now.
