Last night I rigged up a hopper, and got some interest from small fish, rbs and cuts. Then I tried an egg pattern and caught a small cut. Then I put on an orange stimulator, and got a lot of interest from small RBs and cuts. Then this, a lazy rise from a big fish. A deep fight so I thought it would be a cutthroat but it was a big RB. It's 17 in. from butt to top of the thread wraps above the corks, so an 18 in. fish. I felt bad that I had a hard time unhooking him. It took me a while to figure out both mandibles were wrapped by leader.
Strange, there are no fall caddis shucks along the shores, no adults flying, but fish seem to be anticipating them.
