Heiber's Fancy

Found this mid-50's fly in Hansford-Steele's Fishing Flies for Africa. Couldn't get wing quill segments to match up well so I folded one in half.

hook – Dai Riki 075 #10
hread - Danville 6/0 black
tail - golden pheasant tippet
rib - x-small wire gold
body - floss red
hackle - grizzly
wing - guinea wing

Regards,
Scott

Melted Cased Caddis

Hook - Nymph style
Thread - Chartreuse
Case - Root beer pearl chenille or crystal chenille
Legs - Black hackle fibers
Head - Charteuse thread
UV Resin

Tying note - The chenille is tied on at the hook bend, wrapped forward and tied off. Cut off thread.

The chenille is then melted using a lighter to create the case.

Reattach tying thread and finish the fly

Awesome way to make a realistic looking case! I've been trying to think up of a way to do it. Thanks!
