Denson's Kate Crippler (variation)







Using hackle for the shoulder until the golden pheasant skin comes in.


hook – Dai Riki 075 #8
thread - Danville 6/0 black
tag - tinsel silver
rib - oval tinsel silver
body - dubbing black/brown
body hackle - hen furnace
shoulder hackle - yellow
head hackle - hen furnace

Murray Wet Fly







Named for William Murray, who helped popularize the Adirondack Mountain region in the 1800's. Instead of matching segments for the wing, I stacked/folded; the stuff seems to have enough adhesion to maintain it's shape.


hook – Dai Riki 075 #8
thread - Danville 6/0 black
tail - duck quill red
rib - small wire silver
body - floss black
body hackle - dyed orange (1Tbs Rit Sunshine Orange, 1 cup water)
shoulder hackle - hen dyed orange (see above)
wing - pheasant tail secondary
