Switched to heavy duty thread to spin the head; helped a bit. Microwave is on the fritz so I channeled A.K. Best and used the old hotplate/coffee carafe to dye the feathers.

It's, from tail to head, 2 of the 10mm, 2 of the 15, annnnnd some sort of stinger hook that I can't remember right now. The brush is the 1/2" streamer brush from RD Fly Fishing. I've got some of the micro shanks in the mail, but they won't get here before I go to Nebraska on Friday, so I had to make do with the smallest I had on hand.

Nice fly.

How long is it? Do you have a length that you think is the most effective?
3” long
Don’t really have a size preference but seem to miss more fish the longer they get. Maybe they are hitting the head or front of the fly and missing the hook in the back? I’m not sure.
With that said, I’ve seen so pretty long naturals that I’m sure cutts wouldn’t pass up.

Thanks. That is the size that I am tying. Sounds like a decent length.
