Backdraft Muddled Bumble








Muddler version of the original

hook – WFC Model 6 #6
thread - Uni 8/0 fire orange/Danville Depth Ray fire orange (head only)
tail - bleached pheasant tail dyed scarlet (3Tsp Rit Scarlet, 2 tsp Rit Golden Yellow/4 cups water)
rib - Small wire red
body - holo tinsel red
rear shoulder hackle - hen dyed hot orange (1 Tbs Rit Sunshine Orange/1 cup water)
front shoulder - chukar dyed sunburst (1 Tbs Rit Golden Yellow/1 cup water)
head - deer hair dyed black

Took some liberties with Rob Denson’s Crippler.

thread - Danville 6/0 black, Flymaster Plus black (head only)
tag - tinsel silver
tail - bleached pheasant tail dyed sunburst (1 Tbs Rit Golden Yellow/1 cup water)
rib - Small wire silver
body - tinsel silver
body hackle - grizzly dyed ginger (Mimosa - Mimosa - 4 Tsp Rit Golden Yellow, 1/2 Tsp Rit Camel/4 cups water)
rear shoulder hackle - golden pheasant rump yellow
front shoulder - chukar dyed Silver Doctor Blue (2 packs Koolaid Ice Blue Lemonade/1 cup water)
head - deer hair dyed ginger

The Shrimpanzee. Haven't seen a fly with this name yet, I claim it!

This is an attempt to make a large profile and aggressive action without impeding the sink of the fly. With the exception of Marabou (which isn't very suspect itself), the rest of the materials are light, don't absorb water, and add to the action of the fly.

We're only a few days until the "beginning" of winter steelheading begins for the overeager. Count me in as one of those mindless souls, soon to flay the water for long days to little effect. I can't wait! :D

I wish I could tie like this, very fishy. Making the journey to Hood Canal next week. Attempting to come up with something similar.
Thanks Buzzy, just some EP fiber, couple of hackles and bit of ripple ice. Some light ice dub at the collar and the eyes that's it. Fish aren't very picky.

Thread: Flymaster Plus, Brown
Tail: Burn Orange Marabou, pinch off tips
Body: Variegated Burnt Orange and Black Chenille
Hackle: Grizzly Hackle dyed Burnt Orange tied angling forward. “Larger webby hackle”

Why don't you add a 'Hot Butt' to that and make it an even more everything fly?
