Those look fantastic! Super buggy!Using the last of a bag of Partridge on some hares ears soft hackles. I don't know what the fish think of the heavy tail, maybe emerger or minnow, but it's working. View attachment 285553
Thx, been working on them for a bit. I've settled on hair from the mask for a tail, loop dubbed light natural (real) for the body counter-wrapped with gold wire, add then a single thread loose dubbed dark thorax "bump" to prop the hackle, a turn or so of partridge (now bring the tread forward thru the hackle), and add a small loose dub dark cover wrap between the hackle and bead. Those look fantastic! I like the stip back in idea. Definately looks like it could be a small sculpin or minnow.Thx, been working on them for a bit. Best when swung from 30-60 degrees across and down Pete Hidy style, pulsed with an "induced take" lift at each likely holding spot, then finish fished down stream Cotton style. Strip back if minnows are present, or desired.
That looks fantastic! Great tie.Muddled Carnage Brown Drake

That is a great tie, love the colors. It should fish just fine, but I would probably suggest selecting a hackle a bit shorter. I find with an oversized hackle my leader has a hard time straightening out and the fly doesn't quite sit on the water in the correct position. Orvis measure hackle 1.5x hook gapPracticing some dries. View attachment 285664 View attachment 285665
