Gonna hit some blue lines in 2 weeks full of stupid cutts that love orange.

hook - Dai Riki 280 #10
thread - UTC 6/0 pumpkin orange
tail - golden pheasant tippets
rib - Flashabou gold
abdomen - dubbing orange
wingpad/head - 2mm foam orange
thorax - deer hair spun/clipped
feelers - deer hair tips

mash barb, start thread, wrap to point above barb

cut out center stem of GP feather

fold together, measure (gap width past bend), tie in/trim butts

tie in rib

dub abdomen up to 60% mark

counterwrap rib; tie off/trim

tie in foam strip (1/2 gap width)

clean/trim a bunch of deer hair and spin

clean, stack, measure (extend 1.5 hook gap past eye) another clump; tie in, spin

trim out hair on top/pull foam forward and tie down at eye

fold foam over eye (equal to wing pad); tie down

half hitch x 2, SHHAN, trim thorax, trim foam

I can't speak for ScottP but I do skate them for steelhead and I believe the pattern was designed with that in mind. Surely you could dead drift them like any other dry fly though.

Love this pattern Scott. I fish the large purple ones for summer steelhead. I usually just buy em. Looks like I'll be tying my own thanks to you

This will be a killer for Bristol Bay rainbows in tan or brown. I'll tie some up. I tied a bunch of the pena zhuk in different colors and it is not my favorite dry for BB and Argentina rainbows.
